Attapeu: diarrhoea kills five

(KPL) Five people have reportedly died of diarrhoea and other 125 people have been infected with the disease in the southern province Attapeu.

On July 5, the outbreak of diarrhoea was reported in four villages namely Darkporkmay, Darksuem, Darkkied and Darkloy. These villages are located in remote area in Sanesay district. The Ministry of Health has sent experts to work with local officials on providing medical treatment to victims of the outbreak.

The provincial administration of Attapeu held a meeting on the prevention of the diarrhoea outbreak in Sanesay district last Wednesday, July 21. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Bounthanom Sengkeopaseuth, Deputy Director of Division of Epidemiology, National Centre for Laboratory and Epidemiology. Representatives of the Attapeu Provincial Health Service and relevant organisations were also present at the event.
