NA vice President visits Japan

(KPL) Dr. Saysomphone Phomvihane, Vice President and Chairman of External Relation Committee of the National
Assembly visited the Japan on 12-16 to strengthen the relation and co-operation between Laos and Japan.
The visit to Japan of Dr. Saysomphone was also aimed to ask the supports from Japanese Parliament as well as from the Japanese government for the Japanese supported projects in Laos.
During the visit, the Lao side also has a working session with its Japanese counterpart where the sides has shared a number of issues relating to the 17th Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) which will be organised by Laos on 11-15 January, 2009.
The Lao delegation also paid a courtesy visit to a number of Japanese leaders including Mr. Toshitsugu Saito, Chairman of the Japan-Laos Friendship Association.
At the talks, the Lao delegation expressed thanks and gratitude to the Japanese government and people for their assistance and co-operation to the development task of Laos. Mr. Saysomphone also asked the Japanese government to continue to support Laos for development as well as in the sector of trade, investment and other.
On this occasion, the Japanese side has presented 10-notebook computer to the Lao Secretariat to use for prepare 17th APPF.
