Indonesian ambassador provides assistance to Champassak

(KPL) Ambassador of Indonesia to the Lao PDR, Kria Fahmi Pasaribu and his delegation paid a working visit to the southernmost Champassak province from 19 to 22 July to introduce himself to Governor of Champassak, Mr. Sonesay Siphandone and provide assistance to the Champassak Military Command. Both sides discussed about the Lao-Indonesian friendly relations and the possibility of the increased cooperation through investment in the southern Lao province, on 21 July. Furthermore, Mr Pasaribu also visited the University of Champassak and Army Military Command in the province.

Accompanied by the Defence Attache of Indonesia to the Lao PDR, Col. Saptono Adji, the Indonesian ambassador met with Commander of the Army Military Command in Champassak province, Col. Vilay Lakhamvong as well as providing a photocopy machine to the Champassak Military Institution.

Mr Pasaribu conveyed the possibility of improving ties between the Lao People’s Army and the Indonesian Armed Force, especially in military education when there was the meeting with the commander.

Further, if Lao soldiers in the Lao People’s Army want to continue the higher military education in Indonesia, to be forwarded according to the applicable procedure in the Ministry of National Defence of the Lao PDR.

During the working visit to Champassak province, Kria Fahmi Pasaribu and his delegation have also visited Khone Phapheng waterfall – the largest one in the region, Vat Phou Pre-Angkorian Temple (listed as a world heritage site by the UNESCO), Viet-Lao rubber plantation in Bachieng Chaleunsouk district and Dao Heuang coffee plantation.
