Low-cost Phongsavanh Airlines to take to the sky next month

(KPL) The first private low-cost airlines Phongsavanh Airlines has scheduled to operate commercial flights for domestic destinations at the end of August, according to Phongsavanh Airlines Deputy Director Thongsay Inthisane.

The airlines with hired foreign experts has studied into the possibility of commercial air travel service in Laos for almost ten years.

At the beginning of this year, the company signed in Vientiane Capital agreements with two foreign airlines, one of which is Russian major aircraft holding Sukhoi.

The agreements were for the purchase of four aircrafts by Phongsavanh Airlines including one six-seat plane, one 19-seat aircraft and two 100-seat airplanes. The last two ones are scheduled for delivery to Laos in 2012.

“Our vision is to make the company an alternative to air travelling service for Lao people,” said Mr. Thongsay.
