(KPL) Lao PDR President Choummaly Sayasone, on July 20, received Mr Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, who was here on goodwill visit to Laos at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Thonloun Sisoulith.

At the meeting, President Choummaly Sayasone and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov highly valued the development of the traditional relations of friendship between Laos and Russia.

President Choummaly said the Lao people appreciated the previous and current assistance Russia has extended to Laos during its revolutionary struggle and current development framework.

“During our most difficult times, Russia has provided assistance to us,” President Choummaly said.

The president also explained that several high-level Lao government officials had graduated from training in the former Soviet Union. He considered this training a “valuable resource for Laos.”
