Sweden provides USD 28 million to Laos

(KPL) The Swedish Government has provided a grant of US$ 28 million to Laos for continuing the implementation of the cooperation projects of Laos and Sweden in the next four years or till 2013.
The agreement on the financial assistance was signed here last Wednesday by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Dr. Bounthavy Sisouphanthong, and Swedish Ambassador to Laos, Lennart Linner.
The financial package will be used for improving access to social services and markets for rural people, improving education, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, promoting human rights, good governance and research.
Through its representative organisation Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) the Sweden has provided assistance to Laos in both financial and technical forms for its socio-economic development such as basic infrastructure development, health, statistics, environment and trade.
