Plant quarantine officials upgraded
(KPL) The Plantation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Laos, held a training course to upgrade capacity of plant quarantine officials who work at border checkpoints across the country. Beginning on July 19, the training course will take 30 days to finish.
“Since our country is increasingly exposed to international economy and trade and cooperation arena, it is necessary for us to strengthen capacity of agricultural officials to ensure the implementation of international requirements, standards and regulations on plant quarantine,” said Deputy Head of the Plantation Department, Mr. Phaydy Phiasaysarakham.
Also present at the opening ceremony of the training course was a JICA to Laos expert, Mr. Naoki Tatsuzawa.
