President visits Tonpheung Special Economic Zone
(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone and his delegation visited on 28 January the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTSEZ) where he was also invited by the Chinese developer for GTSEZ to attend the ceremony to present the new village (golden triangle village) to the Lao government.
President Choummaly Sayasone was accompanied by senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, Governor of Bokeo Province Mr. Khammane Sounvileut and Mr. Chao Wei, Chairman of the Chinese owned Dok Ngew Kham Group Co; Ltd.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Vice Chairman of Dok Ngew Kham Group Co; Ltd has briefed the delegation of the President Choummaly Sayasone about the history of the construction of the new village. He said that the golden triangle village is a new built village constructed for the people of Ban Kouan who moved out for the project.
The US$13 million golden triangle village construction project has started to construct since 9 March, 2010 with 16 ha of the total area. The village comprised with 114 two storey house with 213 square meters of the area, village office, one primary school, one temple and concrete road.
Every house is installed with the electricity and water supply system. On this occasion, the Dok Ngew Kham Group Co; Ltd also presented 50 Tuk Tuk to the people of the golden triangle village.
