Savannakhet releases 200,000 fingerlings into Houay-thouad reservoir
(KPL) More than 256,000 fish fingerlings were released into the Houay-thouad reservoir in Champhone district, Savanakhet province, last week.
The fish fingerlings release is the cooperation between the Agriculture and Forestry Service of Savannakhet province and Champhone district to mark the national day for wildlife and aquatic animal preservation (July 13).
Present at the fish fingerling releasing ceremony were Vice Governor of Savanakhet province, Mr. Khampheui Phanthachone, and representatives of local authorities and local residents.
On the same day, the Agriculture and Forestry Office in Samphanh district of Phonsaly province released 8,000 fish fingerlings into Nam-Ou reservoir.
In 1997, the government named July 13 as a day to promote public awareness on the importance of preserving wildlife and aquatic animals and their natural habitats as well as ecosystem.
