Road linking Ngeun and Hongsa signed
(KPL) The infrastructure in Hongsa district, Sayaboury district will be more developed after the Hongsa Power Company and Thaiwat Engineering Company from Thailand agreed to sign two contracts on constructions of reservoirs and roads, last Thursday, Vientiane Capital.
The two contracts are worth of 847 billion kip were signed between Managing Director of Hongsa Power Company, Mr Vorabudhi Linanada and Director of Thaiwat Engineering Company, Mr Theera Thanasriwanichai.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining, Mr Somboun Rasombath, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr Sithong Thongkeo and a number of senior government officials.
Under the contracts, the Thaiwat Engineering Company will construct a concrete road linking 32 km from Ngeun and Hongsa districts—a lignite-fired power plant with capacity of 1,800MW, and a five-km bypass road, all at a cost of about 179 billion kip.
The construction of the two roads will begin in August and is expected to be over within 22 months.
The company will also construct two reservoirs with the installation of a water pipeline system to supply water to the plant, which begin in October this year.
The construction work is expected to be completed within 30 months with a total worth of about 667 billion kip.
The Hongsa Power Company is going to sign more contracts with constructing companies to build infrastructure projects in the near future, which all construction works expected to be completed by 2015.
Most of the electricity generated by the plant will be exported to Thailand and the rest for domestic consumption.
