Savannakhet Governor concerned over dengue fever outbreak

(KPL) Governor of Savannakhe t Province , Mr. Vilayvanh Phomkhe, gets concerned about the outbreak of dengue fever which has hit 14 districts in the province and only Nong district can escape from the disease.

Mr. Vilayvanh urged parties concerned to participate in minimizing the mosquito-borne disease and said that leading officials of the province would do their utmost in dealing with the outbreak.

He urged health workers to pay great attention to recovering the life of patients of dengue fever and ensure there was no more report of death.

As of July 11, some 869 people have been reportedly infected with dengue fever and three dying of the disease, according to Dr. Panome Fongmany, Director of the Health Service of Savannakhet province.

“Some 199, accounting for 23%, out of these dengue fever patients are bleeding.”

Dr. Panome said that around eight per cent of the patients treated at hospital across the province were in critical condition.

The most hard-hit by dengue fever is reported in Kaysone Phomvihane district.

Some 468 people have been reportedly affected with dengue fever in the district.

Other most hard-hit by dengue fever include Champhone district with 92 people suffering from dengue fever, Songkhone 75, Outhoumphone 72, Sayboury 34. Sepon which has seen no incident of dengue fever destruction for couples of years has two patients of the disease this year.

Savannakhet province held a meeting on the outbreak of dengue fever and its solution last
week.

The meeting saw the presence of the provincial governor Mr. Vilayvanh Phomkhe, health officials and representatives of parties concerned.
