Vientiane to rearrange cables along streets this week

(KPL) V ientiane Capital will rearrange cables that run untidily along streets within four inner districts of the Capital including Chanthaboury, Sikhottabong, Sisattanark and Saysettha, said an official.

“Cables along 12 main roads in the Capital will be rearranged next week,” said last week Head of the Energy and Mining Service of Vientiane Capital, Mr. Khounkeo Phansavath.

The roads include Souphanouvong, ASEAN, Lane Xang, Thadeua, Dongpalane, Lao-Thai Friendship, Setthathirath, Fangum, Samsenthai, 23 Singha (August 23), Nongbone and Kaysone Phomvihane.

The move is also to welcome the 450th anniversary of Vientiane Capital as national capital which is scheduled for November 15-21, according to Mr. Khounkeo.

However, Mr. Khounkeo said that the move was just a short term solution meanwhile Vientiane Capital had planned to arrange the cable underground.

“It takes long time for us to begin running cable underground as this is highly cost and more study is needed,” said Mr. Khounkeo.
