500,000 fingerlings released into Houaysone-Houaysoua reservoir

(KPL) More than 500,000 fish fingerlings were release into the Huaysone-Huaysua reservoir in Nasaythong district, Vientiane Capital marking national aquatic and wildlife day (July 13).

A ceremony of releasing such amount of fish fingerlings was held on Tuesday with the participation of President of Lao Front for National Construction, Mr. Sisavath Keobounphanh, Minister of Forestry and Agriculture, Mr. Sitaheng Lasphon, representatives of ministries, organizations, business units, and residents in Nasaythong district.

The released fish fingerlings include endangered species giant catfish.

In 1997, the government named July 13 as a day to promote public awareness on the importance of preserving wildlife and aquatic animals and their natural habitats as well as ecosystem.
