Commerce Chamber helps boost economic development, Vice-Premier
(KPL) Savannakhet’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry plays an important role to link between private and public sectors to drive the economic development, said Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad.
The Vice-Premier made the statement in the 5th meeting of the National Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Savannakhet province last week, with the attendance of Savannakhet Governor Mr Vilayvanh Phomkhe.
During the meeting, Vice-Premier Somsavat said that the Provincial Industry and Commerce Chamber should serve as a link between the state and private sectors, collect data and information and points of view from state and private sectors in connection with policies, mechanisms and other procedures worked out by the government for further submission to the government.
The chamber should also serve as a centre for the supply of information for its members, local and foreign entrepreneurs to attract more investment to the province.
However, the chamber should work with the provincial authorities in further developing the tourism sector, he added.
“Although the province would benefit from link road, the tourism development in the province has not yet reached its full potential.”
The province should make an effort to tap more potential in order to attract more tourists and investors, said the Vice-Premier.
He urged that the chamber should jointly cooperate with government sector to organise the training workshops for business people and other investors to upgrade knowledge on political ideology, government and party policies and other regulations.
The meeting also reviewed the achievements of the Provincial Industry and Commerce Chamber over the past five years (2005-2010).
The participants to the meeting also voted for the 5th new 29-strong administrative board of the Industry and Commerce Chamber.
The Vice Premier emphasised that the most important thing the new board should do was the friendly relation and unity and hoped that the business sectors as well as the socio-economic development would be expanded effectively.
