World Vision supports USD 1.81 million for Anti-AIDS and STDs in Laos

(KPL) The Anti-AID and Sexually-Transmitted Disease Centre and the World Vision in Laos signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on supporting the anti-AIDS and sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) project in four central and southern provinces.

The provinces are Borikhamsay, Khammouane, Savannakhet and Champassak. The signatories to the USD 1.81-million agreement were Director of the centre Dr. Chansy Phimmachanh and Director of the World Vision in Laos Mr. Stefan Rosario.

The signing was witnessed by Director of Non-governmental Organisations Division, Department of International Organisations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Samlith Khantivong, and relevant officials from the four provinces.

The purpose of the project is to promote the government’s effort in preventing and providing medical treatment to patients of HIV/AIDS and the taking care of the children and family of patients of HIV/AIDS and the limitation of HIV infection in the Lao PDR.

The implementation of the project is scheduled for 2010- 2013 period with the assistance from the World Versions ( Australia, Canada and England).
