End Violence Against Women today held
(KPL) Laos marked the International Day to End Violence Against Women on 25 November, the National University of Laos, to call for eliminating violence against women. Taking part in the event were students and teachers of the Faculty of Law and Politics and NGOs to Laos. There were different activities including music performance, stage performance, questionnaire on women and information booth with the aim of awareness raising for students. The rally highlighted the background of the day that the use of violence with women happened in the 18th century and the International Day to End Violence Against Women was founded in 1999. The 25 November of the International Day to End Violence Against Women was proposed and approved by the United Nations for Women Development at the 54th UN General Assembly to end violence against women and child. The International Day to End Violence Against Women was also supported by 60 leaders countries seeing that the trend of using violence with women and child increased year-on-year. This factor affected directory to women and child lives and was a barrier for the economic development in the region.
