US donates 3,000 protective suits to Laos
(KPL) The United States of America gave 3,000 protective suits worth US$ 60,000 to Laos in Vientiane, last Wednesday. The US Charge d’ Affaires handed over the protective suits to Mr. Vayorin Phasavath, Deputy Head of National Avian and Human Influenza Coordination Office (NAHICO) and to Dr Khamphay Phansiri, Deputy Head of Army General Department, the Ministry of National Defence. The protective suits will enable the staff of Army General Department, Ministry of National Defence, from being infected with the deadly avian flu in the event of an epidemic outbreak. Last week, the US Army, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation, provided 5,000 protective suits worth US$ 100,000 to the Army, the Public Health Service and Agriculture and Forestry Service in Luang Prabang.
