Journalists asked to promote gender role

(KPL) A training to urge journalists to promote the women’s participation in the national socio-economic development through their various media means has been held in Vientiane.
Chaired by Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Dr Bor Sengkham Vongdala, the two-week training (17-28 Nov) drew over 30 press people across the countries.
The training was financially sponsored by the European Union.
Mr. Boualaphane Thanphilom, Vice President of the Lao Journalist Association highlighted the efforts of journalists in promoting women’s role in the national socio-economic development.
The trainers also learned the role of mass media in promoting women’s role in socio-economic development in Vietnam and Thailand.
The trainees also had field trips to Nikhone Handicraft Centre, Nam Theun 2 Hydropower dam and agricultural farms in Vientiane and Khammouane province for their report writing.
