Bokeo exceeds rice yield plan

(KPL) Bokeo province produced 83,000 tons of rice last year, according to the Agriculture Division, the Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Service of Bokeo.
The division said the province had a reserve stockpile of 30,000 tons of rice this year.Bokeo has 13,747 ha of rainy season rice farmland with an average yield of 4.3 tons per hectare and this is an increase of 2.18 percent over last year’s average.
Upland rice was grown on 8,000 ha of land and its average yield is 2 tons per ha. The yield of upland rice grown on permanent upland rice farms, which occupies 535 ha, is higher and its average yield per hectare is 2.2 tons.
Farmers in the province also grow vegetables and the average harvest per day is 2,000 tons and the value is 4 million kip. Fruit trees are planted on 604 ha of land and orange trees are found on 270 ha.This province has 55 animal farms: 43 cow farms, 10 pig farms and 2 chicken farms. It has commercial fishponds too and they occupy 616 ha of land.
