ADB gives 183,586 mln kip for road repair in northern provinces
(KPL) The Asian Development Bank has provided over 183 billion kip for repairing irrigation schemes and roads, especially those in rural areas, in northern provinces-Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Phongsaly and Oudomsay.
Besides to the support for basic infrastructure repairing, the Asian Development Bank is supporting capacity building activities in these northern provinces.
The objective of such activities is to promote sustainable market-oriented production in agriculture sphere, a meeting held in Vientiane on February 3 was told.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ty Phommasak and saw the presence of heads of provincial agriculture and forestry divisions and relevant officials from the four northern provinces.
On average, each basic infrastructure development project is mainly supported by Asian Development Bank (93.4 per cent), the Lao government (4.8 per cent) and project beneficiaries (1.8 per cent).
