Luang Prabang is the 1st rank of best tourist destinations 2012
(KPL) The world heritage site of Luang Prabang was ranked at the top ten of 2012 Wanderlust Travel Magazine’s annual list of best tourist destinations, defeating over 1,000 districts worldwide.
Deputy Head of the Tourism Division of Luang Prabang province, Mr. Khamtan Somphanvilay said the Luang Prabang ranked the first of best tourist destinations of the world 2012, classified by the British Wanderlust Travel Magazine,w since 2006.
He said Luang Prabang has been selected the best tourist destinations for three consecutive years since 2006 and till 2008. But in 2009 the rank fell to the 9th place in 2010.
However, this year Luang Prabang was selected the first rank of best tourist destinations of World Tourism, voted by readers of Wanderlust Travel Magazine worldwide and tourists who have been used to visit Luang Prabang province.
Luang Prabang is a world heritage site, a charming city on natural resource, a long tradition, the land of people smile and difference services.
Luang Prabang was granted world heritage status by UNESCO in 1995.
The town is the former capital of the ancient kingdom of Lane Xang, or the Land of a Million Elephants.
The town is a cultural centre in the region, with its numerous temples paying testimony to a wealth of culture and civilisation .
